Oscar Isaac, famous for his portrayal of the character named “Poe Dameron” in the Star Wars franchise, will be leading the cast of the film titled “Metal Gear Solid.”
Video game films are not always successful despite being a decent film (Warcraft). However, sometimes they deserve the critical bashing they get (Prince of Persia).
While there is no denying that video game lovers were not entirely impressed with whatever they saw in the on-screen adaption of Jake Gyllenhaal starrer Prince of Persia or Angelina Jolie starrer “Resident Evil,” there are some films that get accurately translated on the big screen and then run the gaming franchise.
The most famous of these films are Ryan Reynolds starrer Detective Pikachu, Sonic the Hedgehog, and Alicia Vikander starrer Tomb Raider (the sequel of the film has been postponed to the utter dismay of fans).
One thing you need in a profound adaptation of the video game based story is a stellar cast who ably enacts the characters. It seems that PlayStation Studios have been observing this basic fact all this time.
The studio has thus cast Star Wars actor Oscar Isaac (Poe Dameron) in the role of Solid Snake for the first-ever theatrical adaptation of a renowned video game series “Metal Gear Solid.”
If you are already initiated into the world of spy games, you must have heard of the franchise, and you would need no introduction. However, for the uninformed, the “Metal Gear Solid” is a very old video game franchise (at least 33 years old), and it features a highly-skilled spy named “Solid Snake” embarking on impossible missions.
Konami has produced the video game series. I am very sure that you are familiar with the name “Konami” because it is the franchise that also creates a widely played soccer game, “PES.” Hideo Kojima, who is now a video game icon, had created the first version of the game for Konami.
The filmmakers who will be helming the upcoming project have revealed that the script of the movie has already been written. The screenwriters who have worked on the script are very talented. They are Derek Connolly, who won accolades for his work in the film “Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker” and Avi Arad, who had written the script for Spiderman: Into the Spider-Verse.
If the names mentioned above are indeed part of the writer’s room, we can expect a nice and decent script, which would, in turn, mean that now it is up to Oscar Isaac and the company to enact the story in the best way possible. Considering the virtuosity of the actor, it is likely to happen.
Oscar Isaac has also played a pivotal role in the Denis Villeneuve re-adaptation of the 1984 film “Dune.” The production and post-production of the film are already finished, but the film had to be delayed due to the issues caused by the pandemic. Now, the film is looking forward to being released on October 1st, 2020.
