It is reasonably evident that the Fantastic Beasts franchise has not been able to live up to the enormous standards set by Harry Potter. The first installment, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them was warmly received. However, the second installment Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald was a disappointment among the fans and critics. The movie recorded the worst box office figures of the entire Harry Potter franchise.
This did not stop Warner Bros. from going on with the series though. The franchise is supposed to be a five parter, which means that there are still two more additions left after the upcoming one. The second installment provided a game-changer of a finale, and it has some fans excited as to what the forthcoming installment has to offer.
The release date for Fantastic Beasts 3
The third installment of the series was previously rumored to release on November 20, 2020. It seemed to fit the pattern of the franchise as the first and second installments were released on November 16, 2016, and November 18, 2018, respectively.
But now it is reported that Warner Bros. has pushed the production from July 2019 to late autumn. Dune will now be released in that slot instead. It does not equal to delay as the release dates were never confirmed from the start. Now the release date is officially set for November 12, 2021, with filming starting in spring of 2020.
It was reported by Dan Fogler that Warner Bros. needed time for the preparation and insisted that they knew what to do to make the movie better.
The cast for Fantastic Beasts 3
After letting Newt and others escape, Grindelwald murdered Leta Lestrange. The fans speculated as to how this could have more significant meaning, but Zoe Kravitz would not probably appear for the third installment. We may see her flashbacks with Newt as that plotline has not been explored yet.
Johnny Depp is set to return as Gellert Grindelwald along with Eddie Redmayne for the role of Newt Scamander., Katherine as Tina, Dan as Jacob, Alison as Queenie, Jude Law as Young Dumbledore.
David Yates will be directing Fantastic Beasts 3 along with the upcoming two movies.
The plot may move to Brazil
All five parts of the movie are supposed to be in five different cities. New York and Paris have already been explored with the next destination still unknown.
However, JK Rowling dropped a hint regarding this on her twitter. Her Twitter header photo is from Rio de Janeiro in the 1930s. The period also suits the timeline of the movie.
Rowling posted five languages back in 2016 about the movie. One of them was Cinco, which maybe Spanish or Portuguese as it is Brazil’s official language.
There has not been any official first look or anything revealed, but considering the filmmaking schedule, we may get these in late 2020.
