How to Set up Two-Factor Authentication for Apple ID?

Two-step authentication system adds an extra layer of security to your Apple ID. This ensures that your ID is only used by you, even if someone else knows your password. Two-step authentication is the latest, simple- to- use account security, and it is available on many platforms including MacOS, iCloud, and iOS. Here are the steps to use two-factor authentication for Apple ID.
Switch from Apple’s Two-Step Verification to Two-Factor Authentication
  • First of all, you have to visit “applied.apple.com” on your device.
  • After that, you should input the Apple ID & password to sign in.
  • After that, you have to select the Edit option next to the Security section.
  • Now, go to the “Turn off two-step verification.”
Turn on Apple’s Two-factor Authentication
  • Get started by going to the Settings app on the iPad or iPhone.
  • Then you should tap on the Apple ID banner.
  • Go to the “Password & Security” option.
  • You have to select “Turn on Two-Factor Authentication.”
  • After that, you should tap on Continue.
  • To confirm, tap on Continue again.
  • You have to input the iPhone’s Passcode.
  • Now, tap on Done.
  • After that, input the trusted contact number wherever you would like to get verification codes when you log in to iCloud.
  • You can select between a Phone call or Text Message.
  • Later, tap on Next.
  • Now, input the verification code.
Disable Two-Step Verification
  • First and foremost, log in to the Apple ID account page.
  • Then you should go to the Security section and click on Edit.
  • After that, you have to click on “Turn off Two-Step Verification.”
  • Click on once again for confirmation.
  • Later, make new security questions and confirm the birth date. You will receive a mail verifying that two-step verification for Apple ID is turned off.
  • Now, ensure that you are still logged in to iCloud.
Enable Two-Factor Authentication on your Mac
  • To begin with, navigate to the Apple menu.
  • After that, you have to go to System Preferences.
  • Then you should click on iCloud and click on Account information. When asked, input the Apple ID password.
  • Later, you have to select the Security option.
  • Now, click on “Turn on Two-factor Authentication.”
  • Ensure that you are still logged in to iCloud on each of the devices.
Using Apple’s Two-Factor Authentication Verification Codes
  • To get started, log in to a website, application, or device with an iCloud account with two-factor authentication enabled.
  • Then you should tap on Allow on the pop-which comes on one of the trusted iCloud devices.
  • Later, you have to input the code on the device, website, or application.
  • Now, select OK to dismiss the code.
Get a Verification Code Any Time you Wish
  • First, you have to launch Settings on the iPad or iPhone.
  • Then you should go to the Apple ID banner.
  • You have to select Password & Security.
  • Later, tap on the “Get Verification Code.”
  • Now, select, OK.
