The newly revealed pictures of Surface Duo are showing off many features of the new productivity device along with its design and latest look.
The chief product officer of Microsoft, Panos Panay, has shown off a picture of Surface Duo. It is a productive device of Microsoft with a dual screen. Initially, an employee of Microsoft, John Wiese had shared the Surface Duo photo on Twitter. The photo was disseminated with the tweet “Watched the @surface duo launch video again”. Meanwhile, in April, Panay shared the picture of the upcoming two-screen smartphone of Microsoft on Instagram while taking it in his hand.
Initially, the upcoming two-screen smartphone, Surface Duo was unveiled last year on October 2. Then, it was supposed that the company would release it in the coming holiday shopping season. Last month, there was talk regarding the introduction of the device before August 5. It was speculated that the company is willing to introduce the new device before the proposed launch of Samsung Galaxy Fold 2. On the contrary, WinFuture, which is a German site, said that the company might delay the release of the new device until the year 2021.
Surface Duo: Design and Features
The new productivity device, Surface Duo, is equipped with two screens of 5.6 inches. Each screen of the Surface Duo device has the resolution of 1350x 1800. When you open the screens, it will create a display of about 8.3 inches along with the joint in the middle. A Surface Pen is also there in the Surface duo, which is a productivity tool. It has been powered by the latest Snapdragon 855 and the battery life of 3 640 mAh. The inclusion of 11 MP single camera will work as the main feature for taking pictures and selfies.
Regarding memory, the device has been featured with the RAM of 6GB. Most likely, the Surface Duo will be shipped with Android 10 but will be updated to Android 11. The company is working on Android 11 to roll it out within the few months of the launch of the Surface Duo.
Similar to the App Pair of Samsung, The Surface Duo will also be released with the App Group feature. The feature will allow the users to download two apps on their dual-screen device with just one click. App Group will help the users to pre-select two apps in a pair that he or she intended to use together. For example, if a user often downloads the calculator and the CNBC app for calculating profits, then only their one tap will bring both apps in a combo to their device. This will not facilitate multitasking to the users but also save a lot of time for them.
Besides, the photo in which Panay is holding the Surface Duo is displayed with a case which might be the protective case to be used for the device. Significantly, the Surface duo is not a foldable device such as Galaxy Fold. But, it can deliver the capabilities that a foldable device offers. Further, Microsoft is working with Google to optimize Android For Surface Duo. The optimization is also necessary as the device has third party apps developers. In short, it seems that Microsoft wants no compromise when it comes to software and the features of the new invention. It is striving hard with developers to enhance the apps and features to provide a better user experience. The software optimization is all-important to give the new device a fighting chance.
